Fist Doily, new skill, and some plans

So, I finished this lovely little thing last night I believe. According to the pattern it was originally supposed to be somwhere around 17", but due to errors/confusion/a poorly written section that began to confuse me, I decided to finish it off a bit early, since it was already big enough to me anyways. I'll get around to blocking it sometime soon, but it's not in any desperate need at the current moment so I'm not in a rush.
I also made a potholder tonight, I'll take some pictures tomorrow. For the potholder I used two strands of Sugar N Cream yarn held together and a 5.00mm hook, just  a simple single crocheted rectangle/square that's about 8" by 7.5". I would have made it an actual square instead of an almost one, but since I was using scraps I ran out of one of the colors of yarn, but I'm satisfied with the results regardless, as it will serve its intended purpose.

I also taught myself to knit, and for practice I've been working on a scrappy "scarf". I didn't have enough yarn to actually make it a scarf though, so for now its going to lay aside in a lonely little strip until I build enough scraps to make another strip, which I will join to slowly make a blanket, probably for my cat. After all, she couldn't care less whether or not its ugly, so long as it's nice and squishy and warm.

My next project is going to be knitting a hat. A little ambitious, yes, but I think I'm about ready to try. I got the basic stitches down and I've figured my way around it pretty well. Pictured to the left is the yarn I'm planning to use. I know some people aren't fans of acrylics, but since I can't keep people from mindlessly throwing things into the washing machines, I'd hate to use anything else for fear of it getting ruined.

That's all I have to say today, I believe! I'll have more updates soon.
